Evolence®
What is Evolence®?
Evolence® is a breakthrough new dermal filler that treats
the effects of aging by replacing the collagen you have lost with collagen that
lasts. Evolence® is a novel filler that immediately refreshes and improves your
appearance by smoothing out unwanted folds and wrinkles and restoring facial contour
in areas that have lost volume. The visible and natural-looking results are achieved
immediately, with minimal to no downtime, so you can get right back to work or play.
Evolence® is injected by a trained physician and your desired
results may be achieved in just one visit. Your physician can determine the best
treatment approach for obtaining the desired results.
What is Evolence® made of?
Evolence® is made of natural collagen, which provides the
structure of your skin. The advanced collagen in Evolence® has been naturally
cross-linked, so it mimics the three-dimensional structure of your skin’s own
collagen. Evolence® integrates seamlessly and supports your own existing collagen
network by adding strength, structure, shape and volume for a natural look and feel
that lasts.
What makes Evolence® different?
Evolence®:
- Achieves an immediate and natural-looking result, so you can walk out of
your physician’s office looking naturally refreshed
- Causes minimal to no bruising or swelling, so you can get right back
to your daily activities
- Lasts up to 12 months, so it is convenient and reduces costly repeat visits
- Does not require a skin test, so you can get results in one visit
How is Evolence® different from Botox?
Evolence® Silk is a natural-appearing cosmetic filler. Botox
is a drug that blocks nerve transmission and relaxes the underlying muscles. Many
patients have been very pleased after receiving treatment with both products.
Where is Evolence® used?
Evolence® is recommended primarily for the correction of
moderate to deep facial wrinkles and folds, such as the nasolabial folds. These are
the ones that appear from your nose to the corners of your mouth (“smile lines”).
Dr. Schlesinger is an extremely experienced injector and has successfully used
fillers all over the face in areas such as the corners of the mouth (“frown lines”),
in the upper cheek, in the jowl area, to reshape and contour the nose as well as in
the lines from the inner corners of the eyes to the cheeks (“tear trough lines”).
What should I do prior to treatment?
You should take a few precautions before being treated
with Evolence®. One week prior to treatment with Evolence®,
avoid taking St. Johns Wort, high doses of Vitamin E supplements, aspirin,
and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, such as ibuprofen.
These agents may increase bruising and bleeding at the injection site.
Also, if you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a
risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another recurrence.
Evolence® is injected directly into the skin in
tiny amounts by an ultrafine needle, resulting in minimal discomfort.
The procedure is simple and convenient and results are practically instantaneous.
To optimize your comfort during the short procedure, your physician may decide
to numb the treatment area.
What can I expect to happen at a treatment session?
- Your provider will answer any questions you may have before your treatment
- Remove all makeup (if any) prior to your treatment
- An antiseptic will be used to clean all of the areas treated
- Local anesthetics will likely not be needed
- Small amounts of Evolence® will be injected into the skin
- You will then receive instructions on how to care for the treated areas
once you leave the office
What can I expect after treatment?
Immediately after your treatment, the injection sites may be sore,
red or swollen. These site reactions are typically mild and go away with time,
usually within hours to days. Follow the post-treatment directions given by your
physician. If there is any concern you have, contact your heath care provider.
You may have a mild to moderate reaction at the injection site, but that should
clear up in a few days.
In the first 24-48 hours after treatment you should avoid:
- Strenuous exercise
- Excessive sun, extreme heat, or extreme cold exposure
- Alcoholic beverages
Is Evolence® safe?
Evolence® is approved by the FDA. Although new to the US,
Evolence® has been used extensively in Canada, Europe and Israel for several years.
The safety of Evolence® for use during pregnancy, in breastfeeding females or
in patients under 18 years has not been established.
The safety of Evolence® in patients with increased susceptibility
to keloid formation and hypertrophic scarring has not been studied. Evolence®
should not be used in patients with known susceptibility to keloid formation or
hypertrophic scarring.
Talk with your doctor about any medications you may be taking. In
addition, include any over the counter or natural products you are using on a regular
basis. If you are taking a blood thinner or medications that interfere with clotting
of the blood such as aspirin, ibuprofen, Vitamin E, warfarin or Coumadin, you may be
more likely to develop bruising at the sites of injection.
If laser treatment, chemical peeling or any other procedure based on
active dermal response is considered after treatment with Evolence® there is a
possible risk of eliciting an inflammatory reaction at the implant site. This also
applies if Evolence® is administered before the skin has healed completely after
such a procedure.
Who should not use Evolence® collagen filler?
- Patients with a known allergy from eating any pork containing product
- Patients with a history of severe or multiple occurring allergies
